Volunteer Opportunities

It's clear the benefits of volunteering are huge - improved physical and mental health, new friendships, reduces stress and creates a sense of purpose and deeper self-confidence.

We know you have a busy life, but your help is so important to our Pantry, and it doesn't have to be a big commitment!  We have opportunities for 1 hour or up to 4 hours.  You choose!

​

We are a non-profit, working with very limited funds and subsist entirely on volunteers for support in day-to-day operations.

Onsite Manager
Time Involvement: 3 hours 

This is the "key" person in charge. They hold the key and open the pantry on distribution day, manages the day's operations, volunteers (handing out assignments), and pantry client shopping.  At end of day, they clean up and close up, lock all doors and set the alarm (if necessary).​ We have 2-3 management opportunities/shifts. There is some training involved but you can do it!​

Time Involvement

  • 3 hours any one of three distribution days, or all three!

  • Days/Times:

    • Tuesday & Thursdays

      •  7am - 8am

      • 5pm - 6:30pm

      • 6:30pm - 8pm

    • Sundays

      • 7am - 9:30am​

      • 9:30am - 12noon

Volunteers at Food Bank

Hannaford Donation Pickup
Time involvement: 1 hour

Picking up donations from Hannaford on one or more days per week.​

 

Volunteers meet at Hannaford at opening (7am) to gather donated goods to include produce, deli, baked goods, bread and meats. Donated items then need to be brought to pantry to be sorted, packed and put away.

 

Time Involvement:

  • Hannaford Lunenburg time commitment 1 hour

    • ​Days: Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday 

    • Time : 7am - 8am

Hannaford Shopper
Time Involvement: 1 hour

Shoppers will be given a pre-filled list of items (typically fresh produce and dairy items) needed for our distribution customers that day. You will also be given a Pantry debit card for payment. Items to be brought back to pantry and put away.

  • 1 hour any one of three distribution days.

  • Days/Times:

    • Tuesday 7:00am

    • Thursday 7:00am

    • Sunday 7:00am

Grocery Shopping
Food Donation

Client Associate
Time involvement: 2 hours

Each volunteer will assist clients in feeling welcome and supported while they "shop" for food. They will also help carry groceries to customers' cars and perform other general duties as needed.​

Time Involvement

  • 2 hours any one of three distribution days, or all three!

  • Days/Times:

    • Tuesday 5pm - 7pm

    • Thursday 5pm - 7pm

    • Sunday 8:15am - 10:30am

  • No experience necessary. We will train you!

Walk-In Pantry Associate 
Time Involvement: 2 hours

Manage and keep count of walk-in visitors. Wipe surfaces, sweep and wash floors. At end of walk-in pack up, take trash out. Other general duties as needed.

Time Involvement

  • 1.5 hours any one of three distribution days, or all three!

  • Days/Times:

    • Tuesday 6:30pm - 8pm

    • Thursday 6:30pm - 8pm

    • Sunday 10:30am - 12pm

  • No experience necessary. We will train you!

Food Delivery

PrePack Delivery Volunteer
Time involvement: 1 hour

Prepacked Delivery

Pick up prepacked groceries and deliver to either LAAC, Senior Housing and/or shut-in delivery customer. ​

Time Involvement​

  • 30 mins - 45 mins

  • Hours:

    • Sunday: 9:30am - 10:30am

    • Tuesday & Thursday: 7am - 8am

  • Must have car for delivery

Loading Boxes in teh Truck

Worcester County Food Bank Shopper
Time Involvement: 3 - 3.5 hours 

These volunteers would assist with food pickup at Worcester County Food Bank. Gas will be reimbursed. We will train you!  Involves shopping at WCFB, loading truck and unloading at Pantry. Requires training by WCFB to shop.​

Time Involvement​

  • Hours: 3.5 hours

  • Days:

    • Friday Mornings

    • Appointment time: 8am at WCFB

    • Truck/trailer may be necessary or carpool

Please know volunteering can be occasional, it does not have to be every week!!

Social Media Guru
Time Involvement: TBD 

This person be responsible for posting all volunteer needs, food drives, special events and update website.  Must have knowledge and creativity in posting to social media.
